How to Get Certificate to Sign and Install Unsigned S60 Apps

If you are a Symbian S60 user and experience difficulty finding Signed Apps for Installing then don't worry, This post will help you rise above that difficulty.

Most of the symbian apps on internet are unsigned or with an expired certificate and if one tries to install such an app on their Nokia or Symbian device then they get error like “Certificate Expired“. To fix this error you'll need a developer certificate and a key for your nokia device. The Certificate and key file is unique for each IMEI number, You cannot use somebody else certificate and key file, You'll need to apply on your own.

Today I'm going to show you 'How to get Certificate and key file' for your symbian device, So that you can sign unsigned apps and Install it on your device.

How to Get Certificate and Key File to Sign Unsigned S60 Apps

Here is a step by step guide for applying for certificate and key file. After following this guide It may take around 24 to 48 hours for your certificate to arrive and become downloadable. 

Step 1: Simply go to this website and register for a Free account.

Step 2: After creating account, Login to your account.

Step 3: Click Certificate tab.

Step 4: Now click on Apply Certificate.

Step 5: Fill in your details 

• Model: Your Symbian device model ex: 5800, 5230, 5233, E71 etc.
• IMEI: Your IMEI number (Dial *#06# on your device to get IMEI)
• Confirm IMEI: Again enter IMEI number.
• Remark: Anything like Jim's 5230 etc.

Now click Submit and Upload button.

Step 6: Now that you've submitted your request for certificate and key file, Now all you have to do is wait for 24 hours to 48 hours and check back for your certificate.

Once you login after 24 hours to 48 hours, You'll find your certificate status and 'Normal', Now in operate section click on cer to download certificate then click on key to download key file.
