Method 1 : Using Updater App
The method listed here will work for Xiaomi Mi3 variant which is sold in India, all you have to do is follow the steps given below and in no time, you'll be enjoying MIUI 6 magic on your phone. Please note that the MIUI 6 version we will install is Developer version, which means that you might encounter some bugs while using it but don't worry, the developer version gets updated every week and the bugs will get fixed soon.
This process won't delete you data, photos, music etc. but I highly recommend you to backup everything before we begin. To do that go to Settings > Backup & Reset > Local Backup. You can create a Nandroid backup if you have custom recovery installed, but if you don't then stick to the method I suggested. Once you have backed up all your data, you are ready to begin.

Step 2: In the Internal storage of your Xiaomi Mi3, look for the folder named downloaded_rom and transfer the Developer ROM zip into it. If there is no such folder then create one yourself and move the ROM file into it.
Step 3: Once you've moved the Developer ROM file into your phone. Go to Updater app on your Mi3, press menu button and choose 'Select Update Package' option. Browse to the downloaded ROM file and click on Update.
Follow the Instructions and Update your phone. The process may take several minutes to complete, once done your device will Reboot.
Done! You've successfully Installed MIUI 6 on your Xiaomi Mi3. Go ahead, enjoy your new ROM. Make sure that you update the ROM weekly, this will fix all the bugs if it has any.
Method 2: Using Recovery
Though I will recommend using the first method but if you are experiencing errors or issues with it then you can go for this alternative method. In this method, we will use the stock MIUI Recovery for installation.
