Unboxing
The Asus ZenPower power bank comes in a very compact sized box, the unit itself is very compact and can easily fit in pocket. I wonder how they managed to fit a 10050 mAh battery in such a small sized container, hats off to Asus. The box contents are Asus ZenPower power bank, USB to microUSB cable (which can be used for both charging smartphones & charging power bank), user manual & warranty card.

Design
The power bank casing is made of metal which gives it a premium feel but the design of the ZenPower power bank is almost same as Xiaomi's Mi Power bank, this disappointed me because Asus did a great job by fitting a bigger capacity battery in small case but failed to give it an original design and the product ended up looking like a smaller version of Mi Power bank. Anyways, the power bank is small in size and easy to carry in pocket, it is slightly bigger than a credit card and provides enough juice to keep the party going. The dimensions of ZenPower power bank are 90.5 x 59 x 22 mm and it weighs around 215 grams.
Top & Bottom of Asus ZenPower |
The top part contains a Power button which also works as a Reset button, there are 4 LED lights which indicate the percentage of battery remaining in the power bank, other than that, there is a USB port for output (charging smartphones) and a microUSB port for input (charging power bank). The bottom has '10050 mAh' written in big bold letters, along with logos, texts etc of certification and stuff. The front part of power bank contains Asus logo.
LED Indicators
The each one of the four LED lights on the power bank represent a quarter of the overall capacity, by looking at the behavior of the lights, one can know the percentage of battery remaining in the power bank.
1 LED light blinking - 0 to 25% battery
2 LED lights blinking - 25 to 50% battery
3 LED lights blinking - 50 to 75% battery
4 LED lights blinking - 75 to 99% battery
4 LED lights On (no blinking) - 100% charged
Same pattern goes when you are charging the power bank, by looking at the behavior of the lights, you can know the percentage charged.
Technical Aspects & Protection
Asus ZenPower power bank used Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries which has input power of DC 5V/2.0A and output power of DC 5.1V/2.4A which offers high-speed charging - It has 11 layers of protection which protects the chip & batteries in case of short circuit and also prevents over-voltage. The Exclusive Asus PowerSafe technology monitors temperature and controls both input and output voltages and provides you with maximum safety while charging.
Extra Protection
Asus also offers a bumper case for ZenPower power banks. This bumper case adds an extra layer of tactile toughness and comes in vibrant colors. This bumper case prevents scratches and damage to your power bank. Unfortunately this bumper case does not come with the power bank, you'll have to buy it separately.
Charging & Personal Experience
As soon as I got my hands on the Asus ZenPower power bank, I started testing it vigorously. During my tests, I used the power bank with Asus ZenFone 2, Asus ZenFone 5 and Xiaomi Mi4. When I unboxed the power bank, it had about 50 percent power remaining, I charged it to 100% before beginning my tests and to my surprise, it took around 4 hours for it to charge 100% from roughly 50%, but that's okay, we cannot judge it until we finish our tests and anyways, this was the first charge and I expected something like this.
After charging the power bank to 100%, I charged Asus ZenFone 2 from 2% to 100% and it took around 2 hours 26 minutes. When I repeated the test with ZenFone 2 powered off, it took around 1 hour 47 minutes to charge 100% from 6%, overall the power bank was able to charge ZenFone 2 slightly less than two times (first time 100%, second time 93%) but I think the results will improve as the cycles increase. Since Asus ZenFone 2 supports quick charge, the power bank is able to charge it from 0% to 60% in about 45 minutes (when power is off).
When tested Asus Zenfone 5, the ZenPower power bank was able to charge the phone from 0% to 100% for about a little bit more than three times (as claimed by Asus), while it charged Xiaomi Mi4 from 0% to 100% twice.
When charging the power bank from 0 to 100%, it usually takes 6 hours when using a 2.0 A charger and about 12.5 hours when using 1.0 A charger. The power bank has Auto-turn off feature which turns off the power bank when the device is fully charged. Built wise, I liked the ZenPower power bank, it's premium, robust and compact but still delivers high-performance.
Comparison with Xiaomi Mi Power Bank
Asus ZenPower power bank straight away competes with Xiaomi's Mi Power bank, but FYI, the Mi power bank comes in slightly higher capacity (10400 mAh) as compared to Asus ZenPower (10050 mAh). Also Mi Power bank is priced Rs.500 lower than Asus ZenPower (Rs.999, while ZenPower is priced at Rs.1499) but since Mi power banks have availability issues, I would definitely suggest you to pay a bit extra than waiting for months, also Asus ZenPower power bank is smaller in size when compared to Mi Power bank.

Verdict
Asus ZenPower power bank is an amazing device, though it is over-priced but still worth. The compact size makes it easy to carry in a pocket, its size is roughly equal to 5200 mAh capacity Mi Power bank, but still at this size it offers a 10050 mAh capacity, which is simply awesome. It's been a few weeks since I'm using Asus ZenPower power bank and honestly saying, I'm loving it. The best thing about the power bank, according to me is its size. I would definitely recommend ZenPower power bank, it passed with flying colors in my tests, I agree that there are some down-points too but nothings perfect.
