Asus is known for sending creative event invites and crazy surprises to Bloggers and Media people, this time they surpassed their creativity level and came up with another interesting surprise, a mystery box. Yes, a mystery box with clear instructions which say 'To be Opened on May 23' - This Mystery box had a 3-digit code lock, but the codes were not given with the boxes. The bloggers and journalists were told to log in to Web-event on May 23, where Asus will reveal their new product and will also give out the 3-digit code for opening the box. When I received the box, my wild guess was Zenfone 3 but the transparent lid of the box revealed what was inside.
So finally on 23rd May 2016, Asus conducted a web-event which was called LiveUnplugged and unveiled their mystery product, which was an upgraded version of Zenfone Max. Below are the upgraded specifications and a quick comparison of Asus Zenfone Max with New Zenfone Max.
The camera remains the same, this Zenfone Max also sports a 13 Megapixel rear facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone dual LED flash and laser autofocus. There is also a 5 Megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone can record 1080p videos at 30fps.
Asus Zenfone Max (2016) supports dual SIM cards and unlike the previous Zenfone Max, this one runs on latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The main highlight of this phone is its battery, this Zenfone Max also packs a massive 5000 mAh battery which can last up to 3 days on as single charge (according to Asus) and can last up to 38 days on standby. The battery is non-removable and does not support fast charging but Zenfone Max can be used as a power bank and can charge other devices.
The New Zenfone Max comes in two new colors - Orange and Light Blue. The phone will also be available in classic White and Black colors. The device will be available on Flipkart, Amazon India, Snapdeal.

The new Zenfone Max still retains its most important feature, 5000 mAh battery which Asus claims can last up to 3 days on a single charge, isn't it great? Apart from the battery, the phone also packs a new processor and this time it's Octa-Core. The phone packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 with Adreno 405 GPU. The Display remains the same, 5.5 Inch IPS Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and 720 x 1280 resolution, the pixel density is 267 ppi. Zenfone Max (2016) will be launched in two variants with different RAM options - 2GB and 3GB. Zenfone Max VS Zenfone Max (2016)
Both the phones look similar, there are no changes in the design except for two new colors. Both the phones pack same display with same 720 x 1280 resolution and 267 ppi. The camera combination on both the devices is exactly the same - 13 MP and 5 MP. The battery is also 5000 mAh on both the devices. The only major difference in both the phones is the processor, the older Zenfone Max packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad-Core Cortex-A53 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU. The new Zenfone Max packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core processor, Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 with Adreno 405 GPU. Another difference between both the phones is the internal storage, the older one comes with 8GB and 16GB variants, while the newer Zenfone Max comes with 32GB memory. That's all, apart from the processor, storage and color options, both the phones are exactly same.Final Thoughts

Also two new color options refreshes the feel and gives your phone a nice trendy appeal.
