Recently Samsung launched their much awaited Galaxy Note 4, accompanied by Galaxy Note Edge, which packs a flexible display and has a bent touch-screen edge with interesting functions. We are not here to talk about that, today I'm going to talk about another Samsung device which was recently launched by Samsung in an event held at New Delhi, I'm talking about Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The phone which quite looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and has most of its features but has a more premium look and feel. The sides of the phone is made of aluminium and material used for back is same as on S5. Overall the materials used for the phone gives it premium feel. The phone will be available in Indian market starting first week of October and will be priced at Rs.39,990
Samsung Galaxy Alpha : What it has to offer?
Build Quality, Display and Hardware
Samsung Galaxy Alpha is 6.7 mm thick which makes it quite sleek and weighs around 115 grams making it one of the lightest smartphones available. The Display on Galaxy Alpha is smaller than the S5 Display, it packs 4.7" Inch HD Super AMOLED Display of 720x1280 resolution and runs on Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chipset, Quad-Core 1.8 GHz Cortex A15 and Quad-Core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 processors. The graphics department of the device is powered by the Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. The phone has an inbuilt storage of 32GB and does not support MicroSD card. It also packs a 2GB RAM.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha runs Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box, which is topped by the TouchWiz UI and also comes with some of the S5 features and apps like S Health. The Galaxy Alpha packs a 12 Megapixel back camera and a 2.1 Megapixel Front camera. The back camera of Galaxy Alpha is capable of shooting videos upto 4K resolution.
Battery & Connectivity
Battery wise the Galaxy Alpha consists of a 1860 mAh battery, which is quite disappointing but you also get Ultra-Power Saving mode which will help you save some juice when you badly need it. Connectivity wise the Galaxy Alpha includes Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth v4.0, 3G, NFC etc. Galaxy Alpha is also compatible with 4G/LTE networks. The sensors packed inside Galaxy Alpha are Accelerometer, proximity sensor, compass, gyro sensor, heart-rate monitor and fingerprint sensor, which is certified by PayPal. The Galaxy Alpha also supports GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.
Price & Availability
Priced at Rs.39,990 - The Samsung Galaxy Alpha seems quite expensive for the features it offers, I expected a lower price, but anyways the device looks premium and offers decent features and hardware. It will be available in India staring the first week of October.
