Lenovo A6000 Plus Smartphone Review

A few months ago, I posted my Review of Lenovo A6000 budget smartphone, you can read it by clicking on the link. Today I'll be reviewing Lenovo A6000 plus, which is an upgraded version on Lenovo A6000. Lenovo launched A6000 plus in April this year, the device is similar to A6000, but has more RAM and storage. Lenovo A6000 Plus is priced at Rs.7,499 and is a slight upgrade over A6000. Recently I got the opportunity to review the device, since I've already reviewed Lenovo A6000 before, I'll keep this review short and will only talk about the changes I found in Lenovo A6000 Plus. Built Quality & Design

Lenovo A6000 Plus is visibly similar to its predecessor, Lenovo A6000, no changes were made in the design of Lenovo A6000 plus. The phone is 8.2 mm thin, boasts a matte finish on the back. Weighs 128 grams and measures 141 x 70 x 8.2 mm. The buttons on the device are still in their respective places, the volume rocker and the power button is on the right side, there are three touch sensitive buttons (Menu, Home & Back) under the display, microUSB port & 3.5 mm jack are on the top and lastly the speaker grill is at the rear bottom. There is nothing on the left side.

Display

Lenovo A6000 Plus has the same display as its predecessor. A 5" Inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and pixel density of ~294 ppi. Unfortunately, there is still no Corning gorilla glass protection.

Hardware & Performance

Lenovo A6000 plus retains hardware of A6000. It has 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC chip with 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor and Adreno 306 GPU. As I said earlier, Lenovo A6000 plus comes with a RAM upgrade. Instead of 1GB RAM, which A6000 had, A6000 plus comes with 2GB RAM. The primary internal storage of A6000 plus is also twice as of A6000. Lenovo A6000 plus comes with 16GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB using microSD card.

Software

No changes were found in the software section, Lenovo A6000 plus still runs Android v4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box, topped with Lenovo Vibe 2.0 - everything else is same, the software experience is same as Lenovo A6000. It comes with lots of pre-installed apps & games, the user interface looks similar to MIUI and does not an app drawer. 

Camera

Lenovo A6000 Plus comes with an 8 Megapixel back camera with LED flash and a 2 Megapixel front camera. The camera is still limited to 720p HD videos, which is quite disappointing. The overall camera performance is decent, the interface is similar to A6000, it has panorama, HDR, etc. There is not much to say, the camera is same as Lenovo A6000, so I won't go into detail. Dolby Digital Plus Audio

Lenovo A6000 plus comes with Dolby Audio drivers, just like its predecessor A6000. The speakers sound decent and better than other phones in this price range. The earphone experience with Lenovo A6000 plus is also a treat, the tuned drivers enhance the experience.

Connectivity & Battery

A6000 plus is also Dual SIM phone with 4G Support in India. Other options include Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth v4.0, GPS with A-GPS etc. There is a microUSB port which can be used for connecting the device to the computer and also for charging. Other features include FM Radio, Accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor, etc. It packs 2,300 mAh battery, same as A6000. The battery performance is again similar to its predecessor, Lenovo A6000, no improvements whatsoever.

Benchmark tests improved slightly, we got 21,229 score on AnTuTu which is better than Lenovo A6000's 20,111 score.

Final Verdict

Lenovo A6000 plus is nothing but a slight upgrade over A6000. The only changes I found were 2GB RAM and more internal storage, the rest of the features & performance was same. I would definitely recommend Lenovo A6000 plus over A6000. The price difference is merely a few hundred bucks, but you get double RAM and internal storage.
