Not long ago, Reliance launched their first 4G Smartphone in India under the brand name LYF, the phone was called Earth 1, and was the first smartphone designed for Reliance Jio. Now LYF is back with another smartphone which is actually the successor of Earth 1. This new smartphone is being branded as smartphone+ by the brand and is named Earth 2. LYF Smartphone+ Earth 2 is the second device from elements series of LYF, It was launched in India yesterday at a Reliance Digital Xpress outlet in Mumbai. The phone is priced at Rs.19,999 and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with 3GB RAM. Along with the device, a new TV commercial of LYF Earth 2 was also previewed at the event. The TV commercial is produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Punit Malhotra, it features Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.

LYF Earth 2 houses a 5.0-Inch IPS LCD Full HD Display of 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and pixel density of 445 ppi. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Earth 2 supports Dual SIM (4G+2G) Micro+Nano SIM cards. SIM slot 2 is a hybrid slot which can house either a SIM card or a microSD card at a time. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS Support, microUSB v2.0 with OTG support, True 4G LTE support, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, VoLTE HD video call support, Wi-Fi etc. There is a 3.5mm jack for connecting headphones and other multimedia devices.
Smart+ Camera: Earth 2 comes with a 13 Megapixel Front camera and a 13 Megapixel back camera, both the sides have LED flash. The front camera comes with PDAF (phase detection autofocus) and the back camera comes with Laser autofocus. A special ProMode gives you access to advanced camera settings and improves your photography experience. The camera also responds to voice commands, the keywords 'selfie' or 'smile' or 'capture' triggers the camera and clicks photos without pressing the button.
Smart+ Screen: Earth 2’s ultra-narrow aluminium alloy frame is fused with 2.5D glass, creating a clear, monolithic feel. 178-degree viewing angle guarantees an amazing video viewing experience on Earth 2.
Smart+ Sense: Earth 2 uses the smart sense+ technology that enables the user to personalise and control the phone with as many as 19 gestures and shortcuts, making it extremely convenient to use.
Smart+ Security: Along with fingerprint sensor fused in the home button, you also get the option of Retina Unlock, pattern lock, pin, password protection etc. It has sensors that enable the user to assign unique fingerprints to jumpstart any 3 applications with just a touch on the lock screen. It also allows the user to encrypt photos and videos stored in the gallery and also allows users to encrypt various social media applications.

LYF Smartphone+ Earth 2 sports a unique aluminium alloy design and is available in four different colours and they are White, Midnight Black, Green and Gold. It weighs around 140 grams and measures 7.2 mm in thickness. The phone feels good in hands and looks attractive. Under the hood, it's powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz with 3GB RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. The best thing about LYF Smartphone+ Earth 2 is that camera provided. On the back, there is a 13 Megapixel sensor with laser autofocus and LED Flash, which can shoot 1080p at 25fps and 720p videos at 25fps. The front camera is also a 13 Megapixel sensor with a front LED flash and Phase-Detection autofocus. The front camera is also capable of shooting 1080p videos and 720p videos at 25fps. Earth 2 camera can zoom digitally up to 4x times. Out of the box, LYF Earth 2 runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1 topped with their custom user interface. The UI is smooth and looks a lot like Stock Android, there are no physical home/menu/back buttons, a black strip with virtual keys appears when the display is on. The UI has some glitches but I hope that the company fixes them in future software updates. The battery of LYF Earth 2 is a 2500 mAh Li-Polymer battery which according to the company can last easily up to a day or more with normal usage.
