So finally the Selfie Expert is here, Oppo today at their Mumbai launch event introduced all new Oppo F1s to the world. The Mumbai launch event was covered by the media, bloggers & influencers from all over India, and we did as well (You can watch the keynote & highlights of the Oppo F1s launch event on our YouTube channel). The phone is branded as Selfie Expert by Oppo, so obviously it packs a massive front camera & awesome camera software to enhance your selfies. The title did reveal the front camera and yes it is a 16 Megapixel camera indeed, while the rear camera stays strong at 13 Megapixels. In this article, we'll talk about Oppo F1s and what else it brings with it. So let's begin.
Oppo F1s : The Selfie Expert
Talking on the phone first, Oppo F1s is the successor of the popular device Oppo F1, which was again a great selfie phone. With F1s, Oppo is trying to go on next level with selfies, the 16 Megapixel front camera will ensure that your selfies are awesome and the powerful hardware inside will make sure that your daily phone usage goes smooth & without any glitches. Let's take a look at the technical specifications.
Oppo F1s boasts a 5.5" Inch IPS HD Display but unfortunately this is not a Full HD display, the display resolution here is 1280 x 720 pixels and the pixel density is 267 ppi, there is Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The phone looks very similar to iPhone, it is 7.4 mm thick and weighs 160 grams. Despite that weight, the phone still feels light and amazing in hand. The back is made of metal and the device is available in two colors and they are Gold & Silver. It is a Dual SIM phone and supports Nano SIM cards. Under the hood, it packs an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 chips. The GPU on board is Mali-T860MP2, along with 3GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB.
The connectivity options include are 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS with A-GPS support, microUSB v2.0, USB Host, Wi-Fi direct, Hotspot, GPRS, EDGE etc. However, there is no FM Radio. The Home button houses a fingerprint sensor which Oppo claims to be the fastest sensor available in this segment. According to Oppo, the sensor can unlock the device in 0.22 seconds, which sounds great. Not just that, the fingerprint sensor can detect up to five different fingers and can also be used for opening apps. Other sensors include accelerometer, proximity, and compass.
Oppo F1s : Camera
Now coming to the main thing, Oppo F1s camera. The phone is known to be the Selfie Expert, that bragging rights it gets from its mighty 16 Megapixel front camera which comes with 1/3.1 inch sensor size, f/2.0 aperture, and Full HD video recording capabilities. So that was the camera hardware, but that's not it, Oppo F1s also brings powerful camera software to make your selfie experience better. You also get Beautify 4.0 for enhancing your selfies, there is also a Selfie Panorama feature which stitches three selfies together for an ultra wide selfie. Other than that you get Screen flash feature to brighten up your selfies in low lighting conditions. The rear camera is a 13 Megapixel sensor which comes with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1/3 inch sensor size and Full HD 1080p video shooting capabilities.
Oppo F1s runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, topped with Color OS 3.0 which is Oppo's custom operating system. The battery inside is a 3075 mAh Lithium polymer battery which is non-removable. The phone is priced at Rs.17,990 in India, Pre-Orders will begin from August 4 to August 10. The phone will go on sale starting August 11, in the following Indian cities; Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Bhopal, Ludhiana, Gurgaon, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad and Ahmedabad.

The event was addressed by Bollywood & other celebrities like Sonam Kapoor (She is one of the brand ambassadors of Oppo), Daboo Ratnani (celebrity photographer) and Yuvraj Singh (Indian Cricketer). Hrithik Roshan was said to make an appearance but he wasn't seen throughout the event. We had a session with Oppo F1s where we did some initial tests & quick inspection of the device, a separate Hands-on video was shot there and you can see the video below.
