Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with Iris Scanner Launched in India for Rs.59,900

Today finally Samsung launched their much anticipated flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 7 in India. The Galaxy Note 7 was first unveiled to the world in New Your on August 2, 2016 in their Galaxy Unpacked event and today it is finally available for the Indian market. The Galaxy Note 7 is priced at Rs.59,900 and will be available in India via e-commerce websites starting September 2, not only that, the phone comes with a free Reliance Jio 4G SIM card with three months of 4G Data free. The Galaxy Note 7 will be available in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx color variants, other technical specifications are below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the successor of Galaxy Note 5, Yes, there is no Galaxy Note 6. Samsung skipped the Note 6 to level it up with the S7 series. The Galaxy Note 7 comes with a 5.7" Inch Quad-HD Super AMOLED display with resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and pixel density of 518 ppi. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone comes with IP68 dust & water resistance, just like the Galaxy S7 series smartphones. The phone comes bundled with an S-Pen stylus, just like the previous generation Galaxy Note series phones. The phone is made up of glass, the front and back is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which offers scratch resistance. The phone comes in Single Nano SIM & Dual Nano SIM variants depending on the region. It is 7.9 mm thick & weighs 169 grams.

Out of the box it runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, topped with Samsung's TouchWiz UI. The variant of Note 7 which is set launch in India, is powered by Samsung Exynos 8890 Octa processor (Quad-core 2.3GHz Mongoose and Quad-Core 1.6GHz Cortex-A53), coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Mali-T880 MP12 GPU. The internal storage provided by Samsung is 64 GB which can be further expanded using microSD card up to 256 GB. Users will get an Additional 15 GB storage space on Samsung Cloud.

As for the camera, Galaxy Note 7 sports a 12 Megapixel rear camera with Dual pixel technology which enhances photos taken in low lighting conditions. Apart from that, it comes with Phase Detection Autofocus or PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization or OIS, Dual-LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1/2.5" sensor size, 1.4 µm pixel size, Auto HDR etc. The camera can shoot videos up to 4K and take 9 Megapixel photos simultaneously. The front camera is a 5 Megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture, 22 mm, Auto HDR etc. The camera can record from both the cameras (front & rear) simultaneously under Dual-Video rec option. 

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, NFC, USB v3.1 Type-C port, 3.5 mm audio jack etc. There is no FM radio. Under the hood lies a 3500 mAh Li-Po battery which is non-removable. The sensors include Iris scanner, fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, heart rate and SpO2. The Galaxy Note 7 can also be unlocked using Iris scan as it comes with Knox software, which is clubbed with biometric authentication which let's you use your Iris scanning feature.

The Galaxy Note 7 is priced at Rs.59,900 in India and will be available starting September 2 via ecommerce sites. Pre-Bookings start from August 22 until August 30, users who pre-book the device will receive the new Gear VR at a discounted price of Rs.1,990.
